Help the bee

So yesterday as I was trying to play catch up on email and other computer stuff my kids came running in and told me that I had to come see this! Jacob said "mom, I found a dead bee, but don't kill it." He also asked me to take a picture of it so he could have it forever so I grabbed my camera. He had written a note to "help the bee" and outlined him with chalk....does he have a future with CSI???

These should make a great layout in the near future!

The 7 Year Itch

Today is my husband and my 7th anniversary! Woohoo...still going strong. We have been through a lot over the last 7 years, but we have grown stronger and closer because of it! We are there for each other no matter what and that feels great!

Last night I took my "old man" out to dinner at a local spot called The Town Lounge. Overall a 3 out of 5 star rating I would say.

We started with 2 glasses of champagne and a really nice appetizer called "Naan", which was some Indian flat bread, hummus and olive/pistachio tapanade. It was a really nice balance of strong and soft flavors. We both loved it!

We both opted for the hearts of romaine salad which was pleasant, but typical. For our entrees I chose the beef tenderloin and Jason had the pork tenderloin. As for mine.. the potato and shallot pierogi was delicious. the asparagus was cooked perfectly. My meat was cooked to order on the inside, what i did not like about it was that it had too much of a "charbroiled" taste, which takes away from the flavor of the meat to me and overpowered the other flavors. Paired my dinner with Chateau de Pez Cabernet.

Jason liked his.....he's so descriptive. Jason paired with a Ferrari Carano Merlot.

Desert was another bright spot. We split the vanilla bean creme brulee which we kind of fought over. Yeah it was that good! I of course needed another wine pairing for this and was not disappointed with my choice of Chateau de Cosse. It was heaven!

So overall I give it a 3 because the decor and atmosphere is pleasant. The wait staff was fantastic. The food was acceptable and good, not on an outstanding level. Biggest drawback was the live music. This is a small place (BTW 1/2 the tables were empty by 8, not a good sigh on a Sat. night) and they had a trio with a singer in who started at 8. The music was to loud, hard to talk over, and not very good. It would have been better without a singer. Just some nice soft piano or a jazz trio minus the warble.

Crush 29

Last night I had a great girls night out with 7 other ladies (moms), all of which I met through preschool and kids sports. We went to Crush 29 which was pretty good. For an appetizer I had a delicious glass of the Chateau Bel Air, Haute-Medoc Cabernet from France. For my main dish I had the Snap crackle salmon. It was pretty tasty, but it may have been just a touch overcooked. The sauce it came with was delicious and the potatoes and asparagus were very nice!. I paired my dinner with a glass of the Santa Margharita Pinot Grigio, which I recommended to my friend sitting next to me as she was also having the salmon. We both loved the wine so much we had a second glass.

It was fun. We spent over 3 hours talking "mom talk" and drinking and eating. What could be better! I'm on deck to plan our next outing which will be to see my favorite 80's cover band ever, Tainted Love!

Dreams

So I dream almost every night. Last night was a doozy. I dreamt that Anna Nicole Smith and I were best friends. We paled all around the town I grew up in. We went and got our hair done, we went and had lunch, and then we ended up back at my grandparents house. I noticed a brand new black mini cooper out in front of the house. It had her name written on it and when I opened the passenger door I saw all these pictures of Larry Birkhead and Dannilynn. There were notes saying "I love you" and teddy bears and hearts all over. Then I noticed the back of the car and there was some strange licence plate and all these playboy stickers and other random bumper stickers.

Am I a freak?

Vocabulary 101

So I know I gush about my kids to much bet here I go again. Sometimes the things they do are just amazing and blow my mind!

Jacob who is 5 had t ball practice last night. When they were done they all ran over to the park to play. I saw a huge colony of ants so I called him over to look at them. I said "look Jacob, this big black spot is all ants, see them moving." His response was "Oh wow, what kind of ants are they mom? Are they innocent? I mean are they good?" The use of innocent, let alone the concept of innocent meaning good blew me away! My jaw dropped.

A few days ago the twins and I were at Kohls shopping for pajamas. Apparently at some point during the day Nick had picked a dandelion and put it in his pocket. He pulled it out while we shopped and showed me. "Mom, the flower is wilted, it needs water." Huh... what.... you're 3. 3 year olds don't say wilted, nor do they understand that it would need water to get better. Wow!

The sound of silence

My house has no children in it for the first time in 5 1/2 years. No TV, no fighting, no doors slamming. Aaaahh.... the sound of silence! They all went to my moms for a couple of nights and they are having a blast.

Jason and I went to the grocery store earlier today to buy food for Easter. We were the only couple under 70. I said "this must be what it feels like to be retired"! Grocery shopping on a weekday with your spouse and no kids...weird!

I was going through my pictures today so I will leave you with this one which made me laugh...maybe you will too!
